ABSOLUTELY SUPERB DESIGN + UNEXPECTED BONUS:
WITH ORDINARY INCANDESCENT BULBS, 3 STRENGTHS OF LIGHTING, JUST BY LIGHTLY TOUCHING ANY METAL PART OF LAMP! WOW.

21st century delight

Description of lamp did not do justice, nor did it state how WONDERFUL to have the lamp turn on with a simple light touch of any metal part -yes!- No switches/no buttons.
A bonus: With a plain 100W bulb, 3 different strengths of light are possible. Each touch brings on another strength, next touch turns off. Superb contemporary design: Worth the high price.

nice, but not perfect

George Kovacs design is stunning. But you can see that from the picture. Dimmer works well with no noticeable buzz. Metal and glass are heavy and good quality. The manufacturer looses a star on workmanship because some of the metal edges are rough and there are some small flaws in the plating. Although the flaws are small they are apparent because this is a lamp and strong light is cast upon many of the parts exposing even small defects.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
